Build a clear file-based reporting routine.

Choose the report and period

Start with the question your spreadsheet needs to answer. Select the relevant report, store and dates in Retail before exporting. A consistent business-day definition helps your team compare the file with the report they see in the app.

Keep fields recognizable

Review the exported columns before adding formulas or combining files. Preserve identifiers and date formats, and check how the receiving spreadsheet handles numbers and empty values. Keep an original copy of the export so the source remains available if a calculation needs checking.

Plan the handoff

Agree where the file will be stored, who can access it and when the next export is due. A CSV download is a file-based workflow, not an automatic two-way integration. Review totals and row counts when importing it into another system.
